WHAT CAUSES STRONG-SMELLING URINE? | IS IT DUE TO A URINARY TRACT INFECTION?

Mostly everyone among us may be fifty percent of us might have observed sometimes the stinky smell of our urine in the toilet especially after eating some foods like cabbage or asparagus etc., or after taking some medicines. Why it happens and why our urine smells bad sometimes? Does it indicate symptoms of urinary tract infection or urine infection? Here in this article, I shall try to tell you precisely why some of the foods make urine have a bad smell.

Whenever someone notices that his urine smells bad he becomes concerned about his health and suspects that it may be due to some kind of UTI or disease of the urinary system. Yes positively there may be some disease or infection in the urinary system but for that matter, there must be other uti symptoms, uti causes and indicators present also. For example, there can be some pain one feels on passing urine, or there may be some lower abdominal pain or you may have urinary urgency every now and then or there may be some one-sided pain below the ribs that point out towards the kidney infection. On the other hand in case there is no such bladder infection symptoms or indications and you simply have malodorous urine, the most widely recognized reason for that is lack of hydration or drinking less or insufficient water. Therefore, in case you suspect that there is some bladder infection that is causing foul stinky urine but you are not quite certain about it since you see only foul-smelling urine and nothing else like pain or other similar discomforts, the prime thing you ought to do is to drink tons of water and ensure to discard all the food intakes that may be responsible for bad smelly urine. (@ chhanno blogspot com 19112021).

A flash card describing some of the causes of strong smelly urine and its association with various disorders

Coffee may also be responsible for smelly urine because its beans contain a component known as caffeiol. When you drink coffee it is released and separated from the coffee. This component is not soluble in water therefore when you drink coffee it is not disintegrated and is excreted through the urine but not becoming a part of the blood or your body. Certain individuals drinking exceptionally strong coffee and possibly not drinking sufficient water may have somewhat coffee-smelling urine. Various kinds of nutrients or supplements can also make uncommonly smelling urine, particularly Vitamin B6 and Vitamin D which may be a source of differently smelling urine. Thus a supplement containing various vitamins can cause somewhat changed-smelling urine.

Your urine may also smell a kind of sweet. Consuming ketogenic foods or having diabetes can make your urine have ketone bodies due to which the urine smells like fruit. However, this isn't a normal physiologic interaction that happens usually. Anyway, in case your urine smells sweet even though you avoid ketogenic foods, you drink bunches of water and liquids plus you have to go pass urine many times a day then you ought to consult a primary health care physician for medical examination and sort out any disorder since it may be an initial indication of diabetes.

People sometimes ask the question that why certain diets and meals can change urine to smell differently while other eatables do not do so. Well, this fact is in the archives for centuries and people know for a long time that eating asparagus can make the smell of the urine malodorous. It is due to the reason that there is a component of asparagus with the name asparagusic acid which is a compound and contains sulfur. When we eat asparagus and it reaches our stomach that compound disintegrates into various other compounds with sulfur as a part. Now, these compounds which contain sulfur smells like rotten eggs which is a very unpleasant smell. Methane ethyl is one such compound mixture that has smell like gas generated in the stomach or intestines usually called flatus, and unpleasant breath. This is the reason for the change in the smell of urine on eating some specific foods.

However, people sometimes do not feel that their urine smells differently on eating a food known for causing rancid urine, especially asparagus. There is a study conducted a few years ago in which the participants were asked questions about their eating habits and whether asparagus is in their food intake or not and whether there is any distinctively terrible odor in their urine in case asparagus was in their diet before passing such stinky urine. It was observed that almost sixty percent of participants in the study felt no distinctive change in the odor of their urine subsequent to eating asparagus. This fact gives rise to a couple of unique hypotheses. 1) That everyone may have a separate metabolic interaction implying that everyone may not be similarly consuming the asparagus in their stomach due to which they were not producing the by-compound of sulfur to cause a bad smell in their urine and 2) There may be hereditary diversities in individuals in the manner in which their brain smells different things. Due to these hereditary diversities, some individuals are unable to feel the odor of such substances which are there in their urine. These substances contain sulfur and are produced as a result of the decomposition of asparagus.  (@ chhanno blogspot com 19112021).

The reality is that we have no clue why it happens however there are different food varieties like asparagus that make your urine smell malodorous. The foods that can produce unpleasantly smelly substances as part of the urine and have sulfur include cabbage and garlic and several similar foods. So please don't stress over it and whenever you eat such foods please take plenty of water or other fluids to overcome the smelly urine. There is no need to exclude such foods from your diet or food intake as they are not damaging to your health by all means since it's simply not an unexpected interaction and chemical reaction that is done inside your body.

OK, God bless you all. Take care everywhere and always.

URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS (UTI) IN KIDS | CAUSES AND TREATMENTS

Anybody can have an infection of the urinary tract (UTI) at any age. Kids have no exception. Ordinarily, girls and boys with good physic do not get UTIs however kids can have UTIs. Here we shall let you know about the symptoms of such infections in kids so that parents can know about it at an initial stage.

Generally, kids make complaints that they are feeling pain while passing urine at the beginning of such an infection. As soon as they finish passing urine they start crying at the end due to a burning sensation. We identify this condition as endpoint dysuria. Sometimes these symptoms disappear all alone and the kids stop complaining about it. In a few cases, urethral inflammation can also occur in kids. In such a condition the urine of the child should also be checked and analyzed and additionally, it may be ensured that the kids do not have constipation. This is so because the bowels and bladder are closely related to each other, particularly in kids. In case of constipation, kids can get UTI due to the reason that the full bowels push and press the bladder. Consequently, both the bowels and bladder experience voiding issues.

One more explanation that children can get UTI is that sometimes they intentionally do not go to the toilet for hours despite feeling to pass urine. It's occasionally difficult to notice for how long a child is holding his pee excessively however the parents should make sure their kid passes urine in the toilet at regular intervals with no constipation or that his everyday bowels are also regular. The parents should also be vigilant since there can be an anatomic disorder that may be responsible for the infection. If something abnormal about the bowels or urine is noticed the kid must be medically examined and his urine checked immediately. Children may also complain of feeling lower abdominal pain or back pain which may be an indication of a bladder issue or kidney issue. In both cases, the physician may advise taking antibiotics for the kids. Occasionally the pain that the kids complain of is quite severe and you have to take him to the emergency room for urgent treatment. Don’t miss getting an anatomic abnormality checked since it will go a long run if there is one. (@ chhanno blogspot com 09112021).

Vesicoureteral reflux is another anatomic disorder that may be a reason for UTIs in kids and it means the flow of urine from the bladder to back up the ureters and kidneys. In such a case if the urine is already infected its flow back towards the kidneys may create kidney scarring and develop a lot of kidney issues in the future. Additionally, there can be hydronephrosis. Ordinarily small children get these abnormalities when they're born. Typically, its symptoms are noticed much later when the kids reach the age of five years to ten years or even more. Circumcision is another risk factor for small boys. In case your male child is not circumcised it may cause UTIs in the light of the fact that sometimes a small quantity of urine gets stuck under the skin which may develop into UTI issues.

In the case of structural deformity in children, the physicians may sometimes advise undergoing various disturbing medical examinations and you may realize the necessity of those tests which need to be done in any way since the physicians do want to resolve the real cause of abnormality in the patient and suggest its treatment. The urological guidelines suggest that you begin doing advanced examinations for a UTI following a febrile UTI and a few others say following a second febrile UTI. Febrile urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most common bacterial illnesses in children.

A febrile UTI may lead to acute renal parenchymal damage, possible permanent renal scarring, decreased renal function, and end-stage renal disease, for which early diagnosis and treatment are important. So whenever there are symptoms of bladder or UTI in children you must insist on the two first-round examinations of the child and these are the urine test and the renal ultrasound or a kidney ultrasound to check his kidneys and make sure that their kidneys and urinary tract system is intact and without any abnormality. You may also notice whether your child does not have constipation as it may sometimes happen and cause UTI. In that case, you have to consult a doctor for getting him treated for constipation with medicine as well as diet. (@ chhanno blogspot com 09112021).

Therefore, please always ensure your kids have timely day-to-day bowel movements that are soft and then move forward and give them things that assist them with moving their bowels regularly and easily irrespective of the fact if it is some organic food or otherwise or you can make some mixture in other things like juice or milk or you may use Miralax alternately or maybe daily as it may be useful in bowels movement for being more easy and quick.

God bless you and your kids if you have one and please take care everywhere and always.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT OF A BLADDER INFECTION AND RECURRENT UTI ?

What are the symptoms of a bladder disorder, what is repeated UTI (Urinary Tract Infection), how to prevent bladder infection, what is the treatment of UTI, and how to avoid risks involved to catch UTI, We shall discuss here in this article about all those queries?

What are the factors which are risky and due to which you can get a bladder infection or UTI? One risk factor is for ladies just before menopause or just after it since at that time they are facing a decline in a hormone called estrogen. That hormone acts like a defense line against UTI. If you are suffering from diabetes mellitus, have a weak immune system, or this system is at stake that is another risk factor to catch UTI. Some people habitually keep their bladder full for a longer time since they don’t have time to go to the washroom or they are busy with other tasks but by doing so they invite a risk factor to catching UTI. Still another risk factor is the abnormal anatomy of the urinary system that some people may have either by birth or due to some other reasons or later deformities. Another risk factor is quite interesting wherein a close family member of a female patient of UTI may also have frequent UTI. Such a risk factor is seen mostly in ladies. If your close relatives having UTIs are higher in number, the higher will be the chances of catching a UTI by you.

Certain things are not risk factors for urinary tract infections. For example, cleanliness is something that cannot be termed as a risk. You may get an infection even if you are hygienically clean and you may not get it even if you are dirty. So it may not be categorized as a risk. How do you or don’t you take care of your cleanliness or hygiene has no concern with your catching bladder infection. Bladder infection is not a direct result of your hygiene. Furthermore, there is a hot tub that has no relevance to a bladder infection. Similarly, there are tampons, there is douching, there is a color that you like most and there are various sorts of undergarments that you like and wear most. These are all just myths, not risk factors, and have nothing to do with a bladder infection or UTI. So you don't have to bother about if you are accustomed to doing even one thing mentioned above. In case you repeatedly get a UTI now and then, please write down all types of symptoms that you have and then consult a specialist. Here are some of the most common symptoms that you may have. You may have pain with urination; go to the bathroom frequently; slight to severe pain in the lower abdomen; blood in the urine and occasional or frequent leakage of the bladder. In case you notice any of the above symptoms, please go for a laboratory examination of the urine positively. A urinary infection that lasts for a year or more requires you to go for a urine test or a urine culture test because that will be quite helpful for you to identify the infection that was responsible for the urinary disorder. It will also assist any medical specialist to know the antibiotic medicines which are suitable for that bacteria and it will also assist the medical specialist to decide on your treatment of the repetitive urinary disorder (UTI). (@ chhanno blogspot com 21102021)

Presently here are a few simple home-based tips to avoid repeated infections of the bladder.

Ladies of one group were asked to drink their usual quantity of water per day while the other group was asked to drink additional 1.5 liters more water daily than their usual fluid intake in a day. The outcome was quite interesting. The ladies who drank additional 1.5 liters of water got forty-six percent less infection as compared to the other group. Thus, in such a simple way you can get your bladder infection to reduce its frequency considerably by increasing your water intake.

2. Don’t use contraceptives:

Contraceptive products like lubricants or oils containing contraceptives, spermicidal foam, cream or gel, etc., are all related to a higher danger of catching an infection of the urinary tract. So please ensure to avoid these types of contraceptives during intercourse.

This is so because estrogen contributes protect inner vaginal linings, blocks the growth of bacteria there, and thus protects the urethra from any kind of infections. Likewise, it protects the inner wall of the bladder from some kinds of bacteria. According to a few studies use of estrogen cream in the vagina in such a condition also restricts infection of the bladder. Thus ladies, who are close to menopause, should consult their specialist doctors or physicians since it could be highly advantageous for them.

5. Cranberry juice:

Cranberry juice is used for the treatment of bladder infection but it might be a myth. Cranberry juice particularly won’t assist you to inhibit frequent infection of the bladder since a specific quantity of Proanthocyanidins which is an active ingredient of the juice is required for the treatment of bladder infection. That specific amount is equal to 36 mg of Proanthocyanidins. If a supplement contains that specific amount of the active ingredient of cranberry juice taking a daily dose of it may benefit you for the treatment of infection of the bladder.
